The Content processing settings

The content processing settings panel on the General settings page is where you select the amount of content processing the app does for you.

Tabs can not be created from headings in the product description if the headings are nested inside of other HTML elements.

If the app were to create a tab from a nested heading then the HTML structure of the page would be invalid and the page layout could break.

Nested headings are usually caused by Shopify's rich text editor 'wrapping' the heading with a <div> or <span> element, or by content being pasted in to the editor.

The heading is nested inside of another element, a tab will not be created

In the above image, the <h3> (Heading 3) element is nested inside of the <div> element. Without any content processing a tab will not be created from the heading.

Remove HTML tags

The Remove HTML tags that will prevent tabs from showing setting can remove 'wrapping' elements from headings to ensure that tabs are created.

Content processing will not change your content

Content processing reads the source content and then makes adjustments when it's rendered to the page.

The Tabs app does not have 'write' permissions for products so it can't change your source content in any way.

The setting has the following options:

Don't remove tags
Use the exact source content. Tabs will not be created from headings that are nested inside of other HTML elements.
Remove common tags

Remove <div>, <span>, <section>, and <article> tags that wrap headings needed for tabs.

These tags are commonly added around headings by Shopify's rich text editor and pasted-in content.

If tab content doesn't look as expected then select the Don't remove tags setting and manually edit the source content to move the headings outside of their wrapping elements instead.

Remove all tags

Remove all HTML tags that wrap headings needed for tabs.

Tabs will almost certainly be created but some content styling may not be applied by the theme. If tab content doesn't look as expected then select the Remove common tags setting and manually edit the source content to move the headings outside of their wrapping elements instead.
